Getting Around
On arrival to the Central Coast there are a number of ways to get around. The network of ferries is a great way to travel around the coast linking this water wonderland of islands, inlets, lakes and the ocean, also providing plenty of day trip opportunities.
There are regular services operating daily from Woy Woy to Davistown, Saratoga and Empire Bay with Central Coast Ferries, and the Palm Beach Ferry Service operates daily between Ettalong/Wagstaffe and Palm Beach. Hawkesbury River Ferries operates Patonga to Palm Beach or to Bobbin Head.
The region lends itself well to exploring by bike. Check out the Central Coast Cycle Guide for ideas of bike rides and the best cycle trails to follow.
Car rental is available through Budget Rent A Car or DavJam Car Rentals and DiVine Tours operate day trips to the Hunter Valley. Alternatively hire a bicycle or kayak to explore the waterways and national parks.
Buses operate from all railway stations, shopping centres and most beaches, and travel to all areas of the Central Coast. Two trains depart from Sydney Central Station and Newcastle Station every hour and stop at the Hawkesbury River, Wyong, Gosford and Woy Woy. Journey time approx 1hr 30 mins to Sydney or Newcastle.
